A molecular model of tyrosine, an amino acid which can be synthesized in the body from phenylalanine or obtained through a diet of high protein foods such as chicken, fish, dairy, nuts and soy. Tyrosine is both a proteinogenic amino acid and precursor to neurotransmitters and the pigment melanin. Atoms are coloured dark grey (carbon), light grey (hydrogen), red (oxygen) and blue (nitrogen).
