Caption

A molecular model of trypsin, an enzyme responsible for the digestion of proteins. Trypsin is produced and stored, as its inactive form trypsinogen, in the pancreas and enters the duodenum through the pancreatic duct. Once activated, trypsin breaks down large proteins into smaller amino acids that can be absorbed in the lining of the small intestine.
