Amantadine is a drug approved by the FDA as an antiviral and antiparkinson's treatment. It is no longer recommended for either. It acts against a virus by blocking the M2 ion channels, disallowing proton entry which permits the virus envelope and capsid to break down prior to replication. Black = carbon, white = hydrogen, blue = nitrogen.
