Mario Motta's amateur observatory. Time-exposure image of Dr Mario Motta inside the rotating dome of his observatory at his home in Gloucester, Massachusetts, USA. Motta, a well-known physician, owns one of the world's largest amateur telescopes, built by him and members of the Boston astronomy club. The home-built 32 inch (81cm) telescope is capable of research-level accuracy and is mainly used for variable star measurement and detecting exo-planet transits.
