Fossilised seed fern (Trigonocarpus parkinsoni) seeds. These large nut-like seeds measure about 2.5 centimetres long. They were found in the coal measures of England, UK, and date from the Upper Carboniferous (310 to 280 million years ago). Specimen held at the Natural History Museum, London, UK.
