Caption

Quartz-feldspar porphyry. Geological specimen collected during Scott's British Antarctic Expedition 1910-1913 (also known as the Terra Nova expedition). This is a form of igneous rock - created through the cooling of lava or magma - composed of large-grained crystals in a more finely grained material.
