Composite photograph of two of Charles Darwin's most formidable disciples Thomas Henry Huxley (1825-1895), and Ernst Haeckel (1834-1919) on the right. Huxley, an English biologist, is known as a popularizer of science, notably of Darwin's theory of evolution. Similarly, Haeckel, a naturalist, was the first German to support the ideas of Darwin.
