Volcanism. Tourists standing next to a lava cave of a volcanic eruption cone. A lava cave is created when lava filling a lava tube retreats, leaving a cave behind. This cone was created during the Great Tolbachik Fissure Eruption that started in 1975 in Kamchatka, eastern Russia. According to Russian scientists, the fissure eruption is continuing in places.
