The author; Stephen of Burgundy, (Whole opening Left; the author, Olivier de la Marche?, with a large scroll. Right; Stephen, second legendary King of Burgundy sets out on pilgrimage to Marseilles to give thanks for his and his wife's escape from death, preceded by the Cross of St Andrew. Background scenes showing Trophimus and his wife baptised by St Maximinus at Aix-en-Provence, and St Mary Magdalen intercedes for the king and queen who are represented rising from their sarcophagi. Borders of tompe l'oeil decoration of acanthus, flowers, and a peacock Image taken from Chronicles of the Kings and Dukes of Burgundy. Originally published in S. Netherlands Bruges; between 1485 and 1490. Author Olivier de la Marche, Illustrated by Master of the Trivial.
