Thermal properties of polythene plastics. Both these polythene bottles have been heated in an oven at 110 degrees Celsius. Polythene is a thermoplastic hydrocarbon polymer. At lower left, the low-density polythene bottle melts, but the high-density polythene bottle (right) will not melt below 135 degrees Celsius.
