Limestone, close-up. This calcareous sedimentary rock, here beige-coloured, has formed in thick beds. As with other limestones, this rock is made of calcium carbonate (calcite) deposited in a ancient shallow sea. This specimen is part of the Geoscope geological park, located between Les Monts-Vert and Albaret-Sainte-Marie, central France.
