Blood supply of the hand. Coloured angiogram (X-ray) of the blood vessels of the right hand of a 65 year old patient with Dupuytren's contracture. This disorder causes one or more fingers to become fixed in a bent position. Here it is the little finger. It occurs when tissue in the palm of the hand thickens and shortens, preventing the tendons attached to the fingers from moving freely. This angiogram is being taken prior to surgery to correct the disorder, in order to evaluate the locations of blood vessels.
