Copenhagen Metro construction. Excavation and construction of part of the extension to the metro (underground train) system in Copenhagen, Denmark. The first lines of this metro opened between 2002 and 2007. The tunnels of the extension (the City Circle Line) are being bored by Italian company Seli and are due for completion in 2018. The structure here is a tunnel boring machine (TBM), a type known as an earth pressure balance machine (EPBM). Four such machines will bore 32 kilometres of tunnels, connecting 17 new metro stations. Photographed in May 2013.
