Richard I and Queen of Sicily, Miniature only Book XXIV. Initial 'O', a king and queen leaving a ship, and being received by a king standing in a gateway. It probably represents King Richard I and his sister, Joanna, Queen of Sicily, with King Philip II of France, at Messina or Palermo in Sicily, in 1190, during the Third Crusade Image taken from History of the Crusades. Originally published in France; between 1250 and 1259.
