Siege of Nicaea, Miniature only Book III. Initial 'O'; a bearded man in a tower speaks to knights in armour, one of whom holds their banner, a white cross on a red background. With tents in the foreground. Nicaea was captured from the Turks by the crusaders, under Godfrey de Bouillon, Bohemund of Taranto and Adhemar le Puy, after the siege in 19 June 1097 during the First Crusade Image taken from History of the Crusades. Originally published in France; between 1250 and 1259.
