Eye cancer. Coloured computed tomography (CT) scan of the skull of a 9 year old with retinoblastomas (pink towards centre) in both eyes. This is a cancer of the retina, the light sensitive membrane that lines the back of the eye. It is usually found in infants, and often causes blindness in the affected eye. It is a malignant cancer, and can spread to the brain along the optic nerve. Treatment is surgical removal of the affected eye, sometimes combined with radiotherapy.
