Secondary brain cancer. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans of brain of a 42 year old patient showing malignant (cancerous) tumours (white). These are secondary tumours that have metastasised from a primary lung cancer (an adenocarcinoma). Tumours put pressure on the brain, causing a range of symptoms, such as headaches, seizures and vomiting. Treatment is with surgery to remove the tumour, or radiotherapy or immunotherapy to reduce its size. An intravenous gadolinium injection was administered to highlight the tumours.
