Caption

Ascites of the liver. Coloured computed tomography (CT) scan of the abdomen of a patient with ascites, the accumulation of fluid in the peritoneal cavity. This is a result of alcoholic cirrhosis. The liver is at left, the stomach is at centre right and the spleen is at bottom right. Treatment is of the underlying condition, but diuretics and draining the fluid can be used to reduce the ascites. .
