Cordyceps fungus fruiting bodies growing from the body of a dead grasshopper. Cordyceps fungi are parasitic, and grow inside the body of their arthropod host, killing it. The club-shaped fruiting bodies (ascocarps) grow from the host's body and release the reproductive spores. Cordyceps fungi are found worldwide, primarily in humid tropical forests. Filmed in the Amazon rainforest, in Ecuador.
