Henry Christopher Mance (1840-1926), British engineer and army officer. Mance invented a heliograph for the British Army, and worked on submarine telegraph cables. Knighted in 1885, he was President of the Institution of Electrical Engineers in 1897. Portrait from 'History of the Institution of Electrical Engineers 1871-1931' (Appleyard, 1939).
