Mary Katharine Gaillard (born 1939), US particle physicist. Gaillard worked with Benjamin W. Lee on strong interaction corrections and weak transitions, leading to the successful prediction of the charmed quark mass. She has also worked on electron-positron collisions, and supergravity theories based on superstrings. In 1993, Gaillard received the prestigious J. J. Sakurai Prize for Theoretical Particle Physics from the American Physical Society. Photographed circa 1993.
