Katharine Way (1902-1995), US nuclear physicist. Way was teaching at the University of Tennessee when she was recruited by her former PhD supervisor, the theoretical physicist John Archibald Wheeler, to work on the Manhattan Project. After the war, she co-edited 'One World or None: a Report to the Public on the Full Meaning of the Atomic Bomb' (1946). She worked for the National Bureau of Standards from 1949, and founded and led the Nuclear Data Project (NDP) from 1953 to 1968. She was editor of the NDP's journal 'Nuclear Data Sheets' (founded 1964) until 1973, and of its sister publication 'Atomic Data and Nuclear Data Tables' until 1982.
