Diamond mining excavation machine. Worker washing the buckets of an excavation machine used to extract diamond-bearing deposits from a river. This machine is part of Dredge Number 203 at the ALROSA diamond mining area near Mirny, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Russia. This dredge, one of three bucketline dredgers on the Irelakh River, began operating in 2004. ALROSA is a group of Russian diamond mining companies that is the world's leading producer of diamonds. Photographed in 2012.
