Tick removal. Tick being removed from a 44 year old male patient. Ticks are parasitic arachnids. The females feed on the blood of mammals, birds and reptiles. This tick's body is swollen with the blood that it has sucked from the dog. Ticks are vectors for a number of animal and human diseases, including Lyme disease.
