This work was 'an account of the organic origin of so-called igneous rocks and of abyssal red clays', authored by British naturalist Randolph Kirkpatrick (1863-1950), Assistant Keeper of lower invertebrates at the Natural History Museum, London, UK, from 1886 until his retirement in 1927.
