Lung artery. Fluorescence deconvolution micrograph of a section through lung tissue, showing a bronchiole (lower left), an artery (centre), and alveoli (top). Bronchioles are small airways in the lungs that connect the larger airways with the alveoli, the small air sacs where gas exchange occurs. Cellular proteins are highlighted with fluorescent markers: g-actin (red), smooth muscle actin (green), and cell nuclei (blue). Magnification: x200 when printed at 10 centimetres across.
