Inflamed fallopian tube. Light micrograph of a section through a fallopian tube (oviduct) that is inflamed, a condition known as salpingitis. This case was caused by the sexually transmitted infection (STI) chlamydia. It can lead to the complete blockage of the fallopian tube and therefore is a cause of infertility.
