This rock is made of old coarse river deposits containing quartz pebbles, gravels, yellow and black silicates and, sometimes, silicified wood, cemented together by hardened sand. This rock of the Oligocene period (35 Million years ago) is wear resistant and easy to cut. It is often used for millstones.
