Caption

Rainbow boa (Epicrates cenchria) crawling on the rainforest floor. This snake is so-named because of its iridescent scales, which give its skin a multicoloured sheen. The rainbow boa inhabits the tropical rainforests of northern South America. It hunts at twilight and by night. It is a constrictor, catching small mammals and birds in its mouth before suffocating them in its coils. It may reach a length of over two metres. Filmed in the Ecuadorian Amazon.
