Telegraph printer. German engineering company Siemens and Halske to print the output of a telegraph machine. Full electric telegraphy was developed by several inventors in the 1830s and 1840s, with telegraph printing being developed in the 1840s and 1850s. This artwork shows the mechanism of guiding the telegraph paper from its spool through the printing area of the machine. Artwork from an 1873 edition of a German book on the application of electromagnetism to the new technology of telegraphy.
