New homes built in the lower ninth ward of New Orleans, Louisiana, USA, seven years after Hurricane Katrina. The homes are elevated to protect against future flooding, and built according to green design principles. Hurricane Katrina struck America's Gulf of Mexico coast as a category four hurricane on 29th August 2005. It claimed more than 1000 lives and became the costliest natural disaster in US history.
