Light micrograph of a section through a kidney showing the collecting ducts (two at top left and two at right) and thin limbs of the loop of Henle (centre). Collecting ducts receive urine from the loop of Henle. The urine is the product of the blood filtration that occurred elsewhere in the kidney. The Loop of Henle reabsorbs water and salts from the urine, increasing the concentration of waste products such as urea.
