Ancient Egyptian tablets. These clay cuneiform tablets are part of the Amarna letters and date to the 14th century BC. They were found in Amarna, which was formerly the Egyptian capital city of Akhetaten. The Amarna letters consist of over 300 tablets concerning diplomatic correspondence. The tablets are not written in Ancient Egyptian, rather the Akkadian language of Mesopotamia.
