Milky Way. Infrared Spitzer Space Telescope image of the central region of our galaxy, the Milky Way. The brightest feature at centre is the galaxy's central star cluster, which orbits the massive black hole that lies at the galaxy's centre. The star cluster is 26,000 light years from Earth. Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons are green. Heat from dust particles is pink. Where these two features meet star-forming regions (red and yellow) form.
