Halved pomegranates. Two pomegranates (Punica granatum) halved vertically (left) and horizontally (right). These fruit are native to Asia and cultivated in warm climates worldwide. It is a rich source of potassium and vitamins A, C and E. Each seed has an edible outer coat (aril) of sweet, acidic red flesh.
