Prehistoric burial sites. Artwork of three types of burials known to have occurred in prehistoric human cultures. At upper right is an open-air burial with the dead body laid in a depression with grave goods. At centre left is a burial in a stone coffin, again with grave goods. At lower right is a form of pot burial, with the dead person and grave goods placed in a large clay pot with a heavy stone slab used to seal the entrance. In all three cases, the dead person is placed in a curled up foetal position, typical of that found in Bronze Age cultures (5000-2000 years ago in Europe).
