Illustration of the device that allows communication via the mind. By concentrating on a letter, the patient's brain produces a particular wave known as P300 (due to the fact that it is produced 300 milliseconds after the stimulus). This wave modifies the electroencephalogram, is detected by a network of sensors and decoded by the computer. The letter appears on the screen and the patient can spell words, make sentences and communicate.
