Illustration of the abdominal aorta from the end of the thoracic aorta at the top, to the bifurcation which becomes the two primitive iliac arteries. The aorta becomes, from top to bottom : - inferior phrenic arteries - the celiac trunk which becomes the hepatic artery (left) and the splenic artery (right) - the renal arteries - the superior mesenteric artery (in the centre) - the inferior mesenteric artery (lower down, in the centre).
