Rabbit ankle. Light micrograph of a section through the ankle of a newborn European rabbit (Oryctolagus cuniculus). At bottom centre, right and left are three of the seven bones that make up the tarsal bones. They are not yet fully developed and are formed of hyaline cartilage (pink) rather than bone. At centre is a tendon (red), which attaches muscle (pink, top) to bone. Magnification: x7 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
