Giant roundworm. Light micrograph of a transverse section through a male giant roundworm (Ascaris lumbricoides). The body is covered in a thick cuticle (pink), which is secreted by the underlying hypodermis (red). Below this are layers of b=muscle (light pink). The gut is at bottom centre, with a seminal vesicle (triangular) containing sperm above it. These are surrounded by several circular testes undergoing spermatogenesis (sperm production). Magnification: x7 when printed at 10 centimetres wide.
