Red cornsnake (Pantherophis guttatus). This non-venomous snake is most abundant in Florida and the southeastern USA. Its preferred habitats are wooded groves, rocky hillsides, meadows, barns and abandoned buildings. Red cornsnakes are helpful to farmers as they control rodent populations without damaging crops. They are the most frequently bred snake species to be kept as a pet.
