Caption

Internal fixation of broken collar bones. Labelled artwork and corresponding X-rays of bilateral (right and left) broken collar bones (clavicles) that have been surgically aligned and fixed using screws and metal plates. This is known as open reduction and internal fixation. In addition, bone grafting substitution with the patient's blood has been carried out to encourage growth of new bone at the fracture point in the clavicle at lower right. This is an anterior (frontal) view.
