Woundcare for infected hand. Sequence of artworks showing a wound vacuum device being used after debridement of an infected wound on a patient's right forearm and hand. At left, the wound and the area around it has been cut away. The exposed area is free of signs of recurrent infection. At right, a wound vacuum device has been placed over the exposed area. This type of woundcare (negative-pressure wound therapy) is carried out in cases where the infection cannot be controlled by normal means. It draws out fluids and increases blood flow to the area. For the earlier treatment of this condition (including the debridement), see C021/0851.
