Sinusitis, light micrograph of a section of affected nasal tissue. Sinusitis is inflammation of the epithelial lining of the sinuses, caused by a viral or bacterial infection. The main symptoms of sinusitis are a blocked or runny nose, facial pain and tenderness, a high temperature (fever) and a sinus headache. Histologically the lamina propria displayed the most significant changes with edema and extensive infiltration of mononuclear cells (brown). Magnification: x 250 when printed at 10 centimetres wide. Human tissue.
