The sabre-toothed cats were prehistoric predatory mammals that had long, curved canine teeth. They existed between 42 million and 7 million years ago. The Smilodon populator sabre-toothed cat was found in eastern parts of South America during the Pleistocene, from around 1 million to 10,000 years ago. Its weight was between 220 and 400 kilograms, with a shoulder height of 120 centimetres.
