Mother with dwarfism with daughters, photographed as part of research into circus midgets. Historically, most people called midgets were born with the medical condition proportionate dwarfism. There are numerous causes of dwarfism, many of which, as here, leave the patient able to have normal-sized children. This photograph was part of the human circus exhibits collections held at the Eugenics Record Office (founded 1910), Cold Spring Harbor, New York, USA.
