Renaissance theatre stage. Virtual reality model of a Renaissance theatre stage. This is one of 30 historically important European theatres and stages being reconstructed in three-dimensions on computer. This set, designed by the stage builder Sebastiano Serlio was taken from his book De Architettura published in 1545. Using a computer it is possible to move around the stage experiencing its lighting and acoustics. The modelling of these theatres and stages is part of the THEATRON project headed by Professor Beacham of Warwick University, England. To view the original artwork of the stage see image E905/036.
