Caption

South African sapper carrying British mines in Egypt during World War II. The mines were distributed to their positions from a central stack, and sappers dug big shallow holes beside them. Armourers fused the mines, placed them in position, and covered them with sand. This photograph was taken between 1940 and 1943.
