Stock trading on the New York Curb Association market, with brokers and clients signalling from street to offices. From the early 1800s until 1921, the New York Curb Market traded stocks outside. Some traders moved inside and eventually formed the New York Stock Exchange. Others kept trading outside and came to be known as curbstone brokers. This photograph was taken circa 1916.
