Bone marrow cancer. Frontal X-ray of the shoulder and upper arm (humerus) of a patient with myeloma, or bone marrow cancer. This is a malignant (cancerous) tumour of plasma cells, a type of white blood cell produced in bone marrow. Symptoms are fatigue and bone pain, which is cause by osteolytic lesions (damaged areas of bone, dark spots at right). Myeloma is a rare cancer. Treatment is with chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
